In his 1999 book Jesus: Apocalyptic Prophet of the New Millennium, Ehrman accepted the traditional historical view of the burial. He argued that the burial by Joseph of Arimathea was highly probable as a historical fact. During debates and in his early lectures, he frequently conceded that Jesus was placed in a tomb.
"After his crucifixion, Jesus was buried in a tomb by Joseph of Arimathea. This fact is highly significant because it means that the location of Jesus' burial site was known to Jew and Christian alike." (Reference to his earlier stance from Jesus: Apocalyptic Prophet of the New Millennium)
